Ruth Benfield
ARTIST
Born and raised in Christchurch, New Zealand, Ruth grew up in a family of artists, photographers and musicians. Developing a passion for painting, photography and music in her high school years, Ruth went on to focus on music as her primary artistic passion, attending the Australasian College of the Arts.
Ruth married Australian film-maker Angus Benfield, and in 2017 they moved to LA with their son. Since moving to LA, Ruth has exhibited at the 18th Street Arts Center in Santa Monica, as well as commissioning work and exhibiting in several places in Westlake. Ruth is a painter and photographer of predominantly landscapes, wildlife and portraits, and enjoys the use of mixed media in many of her artworks, merging the two of her passions and often combining photographic emulsion transfer, acrylic, ink and gel medium.
Ruth is also the founder of "Glass of Milk Records," and is a music supervisor, composer, producer and publicity designer at "LAMA Entertainment," the production and distribution company Ruth and her husband established in LA.
